Messing around with PvE team build
So, let's get the formalities out of the way shall we...
yes this build is untested, yes there are million better builds, and yes this build is probably pointless, but i was hoping that it might appear a bit of fun for a few people
build changed due to flaw. now even more pointless
So here are the builds involved
Fast Cast Fire Ele
[build prof=Me/E box firemagic=12 fastcasting=12+3+1][fire attunement][skill]intensity[/skill][skill]glyph of lesser energy[/skill][skill]double dragon[/skill][skill]flame burst[/skill][skill]inferno[/skill][skill]phoenix[/skill][skill]lava font[/skill][/build]
SS Necro w/ Death Nova
[build prof=N/Me box soulreaping=10+1 curses=11+2+1" deathmagic=10+1][skill]spiteful spirit[/skill][skill]arcane echo[/skill][skill]reckless haste[/skill][skill]signet of lost souls[/skill][skill]death nova[/skill][skill]sunspear rebirth signet[/skill][/build]
Obsidian Tank
[build prof=E/Me box earthmagic=12+3+1 energystorage=9+1 inspirationmagic=9 airmagic=3+1][stone striker][mantra of earth][armor of earth][stoneflesh aura][obsidian flesh][glyph of swiftness][sliver armor][earth attunement][/build]
Snare Ele
[build prof=Me/E box fastcasting=11+1+1 watermagic=11 inspirationmagic=8][water attunement][skill]auspicious incantation[/skill][skill]deep freeze[/skill][skill]ice spikes[/skill][skill]water trident[/skill][skill]power drain[/skill][skill]sunspear rebirth signet[/skill][/build]
[build prof=Me/Mo box fastcasting=12+1+1][echo][arcane echo][vengeance][/build]
2 Monks
So, what's the (new) plan?
i'm sure another flaw will be found but here it goes. this team revoles around the fire ele dieing, i.e. they will be sacrificed.
The necro casts death nova on the fire ele. The water ele uses attunement>auspicious>deep freeze for first snare, then ice spikes when that wears off. using trident for knockdown snare (wasn't sure about elite). both the fire and earth ele run into mob. the earth ele does general tanking trying to keep the mob together whilst the fire ele fires off as many adjacent spells as possible before they die (so no healing or protecting them) triggering nova. The mesmer then uses echo and vengeance to resurrect ele and necro reapplies death nova. Fire ele runs through skills again aiming to die whilst under vengeance, thus not gaining additional death penalty. Repeat with second vengreance and arcane echoed third vengeance. SS necro is business as normal after placing nova.
the fire magic spells damage will be increased by 25% first time, 50% after death (25% intensity, 25% vengeance) on top of the additional 2 fire magic points from double dragon
[edit] bit of caluclating, if ele was to run off double dragon, flame burst, inferno and phoenix (at 25% damage increase + the +2 to fire magic after double dragon), and then die, then damage would for AL80 be (((91 x 1.25) + (113 x 1.25) + (128 x 1.25) + (105 x 1.25) x .707) + 80) = 466 in 2 seconds for all adjacent foes.
on the second run with the +25% from vengeance damage would be (((91 x 1.5) + (113 x 1.5) + (128 x 1.5) + (105 x 1.5) x .707) + 80) = 543 in 2 secs.
not sure how good that is compared to other builds, plus in reality dieing on cue isn't easy, but as i said it's a bit of fun

A couple of problems I can see straight off is that you can't put enchantments (such as Death Nova) on spirits, and also, I see little point in using Empowerment when no-one is using Item Spells.

If you were going to go down that route [[Vampirism] would have been more useful, since it has the same recharge and cast times, but also has a secondary function in that if you didn't want to destroy it, at least it could attack.
You should consider how else the skills could be put to good use when creating a team build, so that you're not just taking them for one reason alone. Obviously, not all skills or builds lend themselves to this, but some do, as the example given above.
Spirits are generally frowned upon in PvE anyway, other than [[Life], purely because of their fragility in battle, their casting time and recharge, and the fact they're awkward to move around, but to give the effect you were wanting of bombing spirits for the hell of it, have you considered [[Rupture Soul]? The utility from the fact it Blinds foes can also be handy when fighting packs of physicals.
Just a few thoughts.
